DMD or DDS?

What’s the Difference Between DMD and DDS?

The fact is, there's practically no difference at all.

DMD stands for doctor of dental medicine, while DDS relates to doctor of dental surgery.

Contrary to popular belief, these are not different degrees. Different colleges and universities prefer to give different designations, but the reality is that the education and training is virtually identical. DMD sees wider use here in Massachusetts, while DDS predominates in the rest of the country.

Dr. Sandra MacDonald is a DMD, and Dr. Herbert Bader, DDS, FACD, FICD. More information on both doctors is available in About Us.
